The European Union (EU) is launching a new program, EU4Digital, to support the digital economy in Georgia, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.

“The gradual integration into the EU’s Digital Single Market (DSM) is one of the priorities of Georgia’s European integration. We are actively involved in the digital market harmonization project and in the network created within the project – EU4Digital 6, which represent a platform for sharing the best experience and practices between the EU and its partner countries”, said Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia Lasha Mikava.

Mikava said that as a result of digital markets’ harmonization, European digital services will become accessible to Georgian customers and businesses without any obstacles.

The recently launched EU4Digital initiative will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the EU and its six Eastern partner countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. This will result in improved online services at better prices and with greater choices and stronger personal data protection. It will also attract investments and boost trade and employment. Existing companies will grow faster and start-ups will be created more easily.

The initiative includes improving e-services and harmonization of digital frameworks in areas such as logistics, health care, cybersecurity and digital skills.
