President of StrategEast Anatoly Motkin took part in the international round-table discussion “Inclusive Digitalization and Business Process Outsourcing in Uzbekistan”. The round table was organized jointly by the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan (UNDP).

In his presentation “How to create new IT jobs in Eurasian countries” Anatoly Motkin shared the key figures for understanding the structure of the IT industry in the region and presented the 5 key components necessary for creating the thriving IT sector: special tax and legal regime for the IT industry, big tech companies attraction, “Job upon graduation” educational program, startup ecosystem integration into the global network, and strong local IT association.

The round table was chaired by Sherzod Shermatov, Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications; Nicole Klingen, Acting Director, Digital Development Global Practice, World Bank; Marco Mantovanelli, Country Manager for Uzbekistan, World Bank; and Matilda Dimovska, Resident Representative, UNDP Uzbekistan.
